Fundraising for saving the life of a 7-month-old baby

The situation was tough and unbearable for Vivek and Gunjan and for their one-month-old baby boy. Their survival was getting tough due to COVID-19 as Vivek (father of the baby) was at home with no work. Gunjan (mother of the baby) is a homemaker who is taking care of the new-born as he was suffering from Congenital Heart disease.

This is what the mother had to say

"The situation was already tough due to COVID-19 and because of my baby boy's ailment, the situation has turned even tougher for my family. We were surviving on whatever we had but now we had to keep our baby alive. I don't want to lose my child, he is my only source of happiness. Help me, please! 🙏🏻"
-Gunjan, mother of the newborn

Baby of Gunjan was a one-month-old baby who was suffering from congenital heart disease. However

Vivek Ramdhani Yadav, (father of the baby) works in a private office in Mumbai. Due to the COVID-19, he is at home; fighting for daily needs and the newborn baby boy entered their life with Critical Illness. There is no source of income and they are fighting for daily needs. And he is not in a position to make funding arrangements for the child’s surgery.

Baby of gunjan

Baby of Gunjan was suffering from Congenital Heart Disease, Large APW, Moderate VSD, Small ASD, Severe Hyperkinetic PAH, Dilated RA/RV and was being treated at Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children’s, Mumbai.

And the suggested treatment was Open Heart Surgery (VSD Closure + Arch Repair) which costs around Rs.2,50,000

Thanks to the 130 donors because of whom the funds were collected and Baby of Gunjan was admitted for the treatment.

However, when the baby was taken for surgery it was found that he was COVID-19 positive due to which he was shifted to a government recognized COVID care facility.

Once the COVID issue was settled, the child was brought back to Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children’s, Mumbai. He was taken up in PICU for medical stabilization of multi bacterial sepsis. The child was ventilation dependent and was non responded to antibiotics and other sepsis management strategies.

Since there was a multi-organ dysfunction, the cardiac surgery could not be performed and Vivek and Gunjan were counselled and unfortunately the baby passed away due to multi-organ dysfunction on 14/06/2020.

It was a terrible situation for the parents as they couldn’t believe the child was no more. As the amount was already deposited by the campaigner to the hospital, another 7-month-old boy’s surgery could be done and his life could be saved.

Son of Jyoti Satpal Poptani needed an Open heart surgery. The baby was admitted to Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital For Children. The baby has been discharged from the hospital. Next Echo appointment is on 31/07/2020.
